like a monster thats swallowing you

14,000 couples tied the knot in delhi yesterday. good for them; but that only left me with about a million jams to navigate on my way back to chandigarh.
it took me almost two n' half hours to get from Gurgaon to the Kundli border (Karnal side).

and then... the first fog of the season hit at 12.15am last night just after Karnal and lasted all the way to chandi.

it was good... it is amazing how you just keep driving into nothingness... like a monster thats swallowing you... is how my friend described it.

online: why it took two years

started replying to a comment from zilch, but halfway through it i realised the answer was way too long so i'd rather just make it a post. moreover there might be others wondering why it took two whole years... so here goes...

i need to say something before i start, i love the internet... i'm not exactly a computer nerd, well not any more... but I just love being connected. so you can kinda imagine what i've been going through these two years not having the luxury of the "connection" all this time.

when i came to chandigarh two n'half years back the only internet connections available were the dial-up types... but coz i have this urge to change house every 8-10 months, getting a fixed-line phone was not the best idea. so my only sources of connectivity were the nice and fast dsl at home in gurgaon, the amazingly zippy sify internet cafe is sector 35 (chd) or the near dead office connection (google used to take a good 15 sec to open up... aaaargh!)

so every weekend for the past two n'half years i religiously drove down to delhi and among other things surfed the net to my heart's content.

last month i heard about reliance fwp's (their home phone) corporate deal, pretty decent... i get an ok speed internet connection and talking over std's a lot cheaper. so if anyone out there's in as much trouble as i've been, trust me and try reliance.

oh by the way i did try the "truly amazing" airtel gprs connection earlier this year... pits is all i can say.

phew! i think this has been by far my longest post... so i guess i can wind up here... any more questions shall be gladly answered.

PS. Reshma thanks for the clarification... lol :D

online

i'm finally online from chandigarh.
its taken me two whole years, but i'm finally online.

reliance FWP (the home phone) and its not bad... 11K download speed, i got apache 1.3.33 (4.91MB) in 7 minutes flat... not bad... not bad at all :)
