roaring piston's the name of a riding club some of us at quark chandigarh created.

my little roaring piston is the proud owner of a new disc brake and a clear glass headlight.
i talk at length with the mechanics and they told me that the difference between the gas shocks and normal shocks is mainly in the life of the shock. there isn't too much difference in the riding comfort.

man the brakes are good! am ready to take on the mountains again.

i had almost given up on getting additional leave in august for the leh trip. then a post on arjun's blog kinda put me back on top of things... think i'll go and push my boss for the leave again.

coz i gotta do this!

the riders i met, had aluminium boxes made to the size of the carriers on their bikes. pretty neat job, done at the kamla nagar.

just what i need...

met a couple of riders from delhi on their way to leh at the zhilmil dhaba in karnal.

nice shiny bikes... well strapped luggage... excitement in their eyes... couldn't help talking to them... told them about my failed attempt. They'd heard about the bad roads and stuff and were hoping they could make.

They just wanted to give it their best shot!

got hold of live recordings of the pink floyd songs at the live8 concert at hyde park.
imagine pink floyd reuniting after more than 20 years...

they are so good together!

dilemma

going to delhi this weekend...
also wish i could get the disc brakes and gas shocks put on the bike, but that needs to be done in chandigarh.

what do i do... what do i do?

.need to remind surinder that it is important to check the air-pressure in the bike before starting for chandigarh, let alone leh.

i remember the look on the mechanics face in manali when he asked surinder about the air, and surinder had a blank look as if he didn't know that the tyres on his bike had a tube which needed to be regularly topped up with air.
"errrr... hawa hmmmm... woh to maine check karwaayi hi nahin".

for me and surinder.

surinder suggested a Bullet 500. man... have i been dreaming of that or what...

heard that enfield's gonna do something with the 500 very soon... thought i better wait for "the changes". don't think they're gonna happen anytime soon... so my 350 electra it is :)

need to get somethings done before my next attempt:

- get disc brakes
- gas shocks
- better rain covers for the bags
- better rain protection for the shoes
- better rain protection for myself... whew... does it rain in the mountains or what!

hmmm... think there's lots more... lemme think.

leh... sigh!

i'm back from the leh trip... a little sad... a little crestfallen.

i think one must not 'want' something really bad... coz it just seems to evade you. but at the same time when you do get something you really 'want' bad, its the best feeling you will ever get.

blame it on bad weather, blame it on bike problems... fact of the matter is we didn't make it! turning back from the rohtang pass was the one of the biggest disappointments i've had... sigh!

but i shall try again... and try i shall until i'm finally there...
